The Protex Central History and Mission

Protex Central is a privately-owned company. Dennis Mullen founded the company in 1966 performing fire alarm inspections. While they still do inspections today, their services have expanded to be known as a single source provider for specialized protection solutions integration. The company is currently in its second generation of leadership under the direction of Dennis’ son, Shawn Mullen.

The company has seen steady growth over the years. The most important objective for Protex Central is to see growth in satisfied customers. Those retained customers have allowed them to hire additional team members to meet the needs of current customers as well as new ones. Protex Central now serves its customers from four offices: Omaha, Des Moines, Scottsbluff, and its corporate office in Hastings. Protex Central has licensed contractors in six states, however, most specialized protection solutions integration is done in Nebraska and Iowa. 

Protex Central is committed to staying current with code changes, industry trends, new technologies and educational opportunities so they are up to date and continue to sharpen their skills. By aligning with top vendors they’re able to provide needed product solutions to their customer base. As a company, our technicians are fully trained and compliant with local codes and standards. In addition to maintaining their required local licenses, system designers and technicians voluntarily submit to other national certifications, such as NICET. 

Protex Central is a place where people come for a lifelong career. Employees average about 18 years of service. Protex Central offers a broad range of services and designs to meet the specific needs of each facility they service. Each application is different and each relationship is different. They focus on ensuring clear expectations from customers, and then work to exceed those expectations.
