Dennis Mullen

Chairman of the Board

As Founder and Chairman of the Board, Dennis Mullen has established himself and Protex Central as one of the premier specialized protection solutions integrators in the country over the past 46 years. Dennis has been involved throughout his career with a variety of political and industry positions.  

Having served as a councilman on the Hastings, Nebraska City Council in the mid-70’s, he has successfully engaged with public and private interests on a variety of issues and subjects.  During a long and distinguished tenure as Chairman of the Hastings Utilities Board of Public Works, Dennis oversaw the creation and initial construction of the 70 megawatt Whelan Energy Center.    

His involvement with the Nebraska Public Power Pool was instrumental in forming many of the strategic supply relationships that continue to yield benefits to all Nebraskans.His involvement in the development of rules and regulations for fire safety standards extends beyond his native state onto the national stage with his participation for several years on the National Fire Protection Association’s National Fire Alarm Code committee.He’s also one of the founding members of the National Independent Fire Alarm Distributor’s Association.  Dennis continues to be involved with Protex Central while pursuing other business interests in manufacturing and private consulting.  Married to his high school sweetheart, Marlene, for 52 years, Dennis enjoys reading, local history and following the activities of seven grandchildren.
