A NICET Level IV certified engineering technician in fire alarm and a Level III technician in the special hazards sub-fields, Mullen is a past-president of the Fire Suppression Systems Association and currently serves on the board of directors as Principal Member Representative to the NFPA 770 Hybrid (Water-Mist & Nitrogen) Fire Extinguishing Systems Committee. Mullen has been active in local and state code development and recently concluded serving his second appointed term on the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Fire Extinguishing Contractors’ Advisory Board. Known as an industry advocate and leader, Shawn has extensive experience in making presentations to various industry associations including the National Fire Protection Association, Criminal Justice Facility Engineers Nationalthe Hawkeye State Fire Inspector’s Association and 140 Character Conference
